In the Fading Light - Cover Rejected - Whale Tail

COVER REJECTED. Image 1 - Whale Tail. No one likes to be rejected (do they?!) and in a way this image was initially selected before being rejected. Which is something. I like whales and the music in this track (In the Fading Light - released on 1st April) has a slow heart-beat-beat which somehow put me in mind of a giant whale heart. I like this image and perhaps for another track it will work but it just wasn't right this time and so it didn't make the final cut. Selecting a cover image for an upcoming music release is an intricate process which, in the hands of professionals, probably involves focus groups and public surveys, slow motion cameras and artificial intelligence. A top artist or photographer is hired and a few weeks go by. Test images, more focus groups. My approach is a bit more 'off the cuff'. I put the actual music on and scroll through images on @Canva - I then add the title and carry on to the next image. Once I've done a few of these I select the two I like best and then choose a 'winner'. The whole process takes 20 minutes tops. For the briefest of moments I get to feel a bit like a Simon Cowell but in a tiny alternative universe near Edinburgh, Scotland …
